Severe incidents up to disasters and catastrophes usually hit the affected by surprise – and they may hit everyone. A lot of knowledge and expertise is available for both: dealing with emergencies and disasters and caregiving for persons with disabilities. But often there are huge gaps when these two fields concur. This trainer handbook addresses exactly those gaps by providing background information, experiences, examples and specific and practical tools for professionals who (might) deal with severe incidents or even disasters that affect people with disabilities. It aims at trainers to give them a solid basis and specific tools to tailor programmes that exactly meet the needs of their institution or organisation - be it mainly from the field of emergency response or caregiving for people with disabilities. This handbook is one of the results from the project EUNAD-IP, additional information and training materials can be found on the project’s website: http://eunad-info.eu
