The inventory publication "The German Royal Palaces" documents the places of government of the medieval traveling kingship in Germany with particular emphasis on the archeological and architectural aspects involved. The first of the three planned parts (simultaneously the third fascicle) on the places of government of the medieval traveling kingship in modern-day Bavaria documents those erected in the region of Bavaria-Swabia, which includes Augsburg, Donauwörth, Günzburg, Hohenaltheim, Holzkirchen, Memmingen, Mering and Zusmarshausen. The authors look at the actions taken by the East Frankish-German traveling kingship at the various places in Bavaria-Swabia as well as at the conditions under which this occurred. This fascicle is addressed not only toward experts in the field; it makes the written source materials as well as the relevant evidence from archeology and architecture accessible to a wider audience.
