“Challenges and Opportunities in Foreign Language Education”, with papers in English and German, is a tribute to Professor Teresa Siek-Piskozub by the articles’ contributors and reviewers. The book is divided into two parts:
In Part 1, EFL teachers and researchers (Augustyn Surdyk, Tomasz Róg, Karolina Ditrych, Marek Krawiec, Artur Urbaniak and Dorota Owczarek) pay tribute to Professor Siek-Piskozub in articles related to some of her most renowned publications and findings.
In Part 2, GFL teachers (Sławomira Kołsut, Anna Abramczyk, Katarzyna Trojan and Grażyna Strzelecka), in their discussion of selected aspects of German language instruction, honour Professor Siek-Piskozub by exploring the notions that she has emphasized and described in scholarly literature.
The number of references to Professor Siek-Piskozub in this book points to the scholar’s indisputable position in the academic arena and the significant influence she has exerted on generations of foreign language students and educators. Apart from honouring Professor Siek-Piskozub, the volume provides an insight into fundamental concepts, theories and practices in the field of foreign language education, including those featured and discussed in the professor’s numerous and well-known publications. The papers present important notions from different perspectives and, by quoting evidential material, attempt to answer questions about the challenges which modern foreign language students and teachers face, and the opportunities which they are given.
