The Tap, Life Lessons, and Jiu Jitsu Volume 1

Chaye Tione Alexander is a Brown Belt under Professor Rodrigo Clark at Gracie Barra Santa Barbara. He began teaching children as a blue belt and immediately recognized he possessed a gift as an instructor. Before being able to write as a child, his Grandmother would have him narrate stories from his imagination and transcribe them. As an undergraduate, he studied creative writing and Shakespeare in London where he honed his creativity through poetry and lyricism.The Tap, Life Lessons, and Jiu Jitsu: The Story of Connor and Devin is his first children's story published. Through its success, he wishes to use the proceeds to create more mindfulness based programs for children and adults. He believes that stress is universal and when understood, individuals can proactively manage it with healthy strategies. Jiu Jitsu became his healthy strategy for dealing with the various forms of stress. As a Jiu jitsu practitioner, he learned what discipline is and what is possible through the arts and practice of mindfulness.

Sonny Lata Yiu is an illustrator who grew up in the Bay Area, with her wonderful parents, twin sister, younger brother, and two adorable dogs named Duffy and Wybie. She is currently studying painting in the College of Creative Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Her illustrations are heavily influenced by her love for Disney; playing with colors and fun characters to tell a story.
